Our first coach, Bruce Miller, has passed away

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Bruce Miller, our very first adaptive golf coach and a true pioneer in our community. Bruce began his journey with us when our organization was known as Freedom Golf and played an instrumental role in shaping the US Adaptive Golf Alliance (USAGA) into what it is today. An avid golfer for over 50 years, Bruce played on his high school team and competed locally with various organizations. After losing his leg in 2012, Bruce became involved with the USAGA (then Freedom Golf Association) the following year. He completed Adaptive Golf Training to become a coach and dedicated himself to helping those with disabilities enjoy the game he loved.

Bruce’s impact on the USAGA and its participants is immeasurable. As a single-amputee golfer, he brought passion and expertise to his role, teaching thousands of adaptive golf lessons. His unwavering dedication, compassionate teaching, and inspiring spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, helping them discover the joy and empowerment that golf can bring. Recognized for his exceptional contributions, Bruce was honored as our 2019 Coach of the Year. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all those he coached and in the ongoing mission of the USAGA. Our organization and the many participants fortunate enough to learn from him will greatly miss him.
